One Piece Author Eiichiro Oda is Undergoing Eye Surgery

The official Twitter account of One Piece dropped the bomb about themanga’s hiatusyesterday with Oda’s message to the fans. In this message, Oda shared details about his battles withastigmatism. Astigmatism is a common eye condition that is said to make your vision blurry. Thus, Oda mentioned that this condition has been interfering with his work a lot lately, and he decided to undergo eye surgery to overcome it.

The One Piece manga undergoes hiatus for the next four issues of Weekly Shonen Jump, which is from issue 29 to issue 32. Therefore, the manga will start its break from the next issue, scheduled on June 19 and will return on 18 July. It’s sad news to hear that we will not get our weekly dose of One Piece chapters for a month. But it’s understandable that it’s for the well-being of one of our favorite mangakas, and we wish author Eiichiro Oda a speedy recovery!
